HUGS is a 16-month Erasmus+ partnership for small-scale cooperation in the field of adult education, aimed at researching and developing comprehensive guidelines for the recruitment and training of volunteer support workers.
These volunteers will provide social assistance to new families and mothers, with a particular focus on migrant women. The goal is to promote welfare and social assistance, foster connections across intercultural, intergenerational, and social divides, and create innovative curricula for EU countries on how to support new mothers.
The research is taking place in two EU countries through a collaborative partnership between Famiglie per la Famiglia Onlus (FF) in Italy and Vital Aid Foundation (VAF) in The Netherlands.
Objective
The main objective of HUGS is to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices from both countries. And based on the shared information, the project aims to collate best practices which can be used as a benchmark for creating a comprehensive guideline for voluntary support workers.
The project aims to achieve the following outcomes:
- Develop guidelines for defining the roles and selection criteria of the Voluntary Support Worker.
- Develop a European manual for Training Course for Voluntary Support Workers.
These outcomes will lay the groundwork for a future large-scale cooperation partnership, which will focus on promoting the European training pathway for Voluntary Support Workers in various contexts
